1:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Long before the advent of Smartphones and instant messaging, when people traveled to places, one of the ways they could capture and remember the event was through the purchase of souvenir china which depicted a tangible reminder of their visit.  Monson's proliferation of Souvenir China was probably in part due to many influences.  The socio-economic climate drew people from every walk of life to live, work or visit Monson.  We had some of the wealthiest people in the area.  We had a great influx of immigrants working in our factories which also ran boarding houses to attract young unwed women to work on the machines.  There were several scenic areas in Monson such as Flynt Park and the land around Flynt Quarry, which drew picnickers and tourists.  All of these things contributed to the allure for Monson Souvenier China.
Please join the Monson Historical Society on Sunday, April 15, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Jacob Thompson House located at 7 Main Street (the corner of Main Street and Thompson Street) as they celebrate the arrival of spring.  The open house will feature a large collection of recently acquired Monson Souvenir China.  Refreshments will be served.
